Updated Winter Playoff Information for CIF Northern Section High Schools

Participant Safety a Priority during State Mandated Evacuations and School Closures

CHICO, CALIF. – The safety is of utmost importance for all those participating in CIF Northern Section athletics. Due to current school closures and State mandated evacuations, updates have been made to the CIF Northern Section winter playoffs schedule.


All soccer brackets were announced on Saturday, February 11 and playoff games will remain as scheduled unless a school is closed or located in an evacuation area. For those teams that cannot compete due to the unforeseen circumstances, games may be postponed.


All wrestling tournaments will continue as scheduled on Saturday, February 18: Division I at Chico High School, Division II at Corning High School (originally at Wheatland High School) and Divisions 3 and 4 at Durham High School.

Teams from evacuated areas or with school closures may practice with another team at another school without penalty.
Additionally, tournament host schools will provide student-athletes with singlets for those who do not have their own singlet due to the unforeseen circumstances.


Seeding for the basketball playoffs will take place as scheduled on Saturday, February 18, at 9 a.m. at Pleasant Valley High School. Any games not played prior to seeding, due to the unforeseen circumstances, will be considered no contest and the seeding committee will proceed with the game results they have. Representatives will need to know, league finish for the purposes of seeding.
